A journalist “provides citizens with accurate and reliable information they need to function in a free society” (Project for Excellence in Journalism, n.d. “Principles of Journalism”). The job of a journalist is to select information that the public may find relevant or interesting or need to know and delivers it in a form that is engaging and consumable. Journalists are charged with functions such as watchdog, political, economic, sentry, record-keeping, entertainment or agenda-setting. These functions are a way that journalists keep the public informed by sharing or exposing the truth about any activities that may affect us. By doing so, it attempts to keep people honest and provides a mix of stories.

With the ever growing 24/7 news cycle and changes to techonology, keeping up-to-date with the latest news and media platforms forms is important, not only to learn new methods as a journalist but changing the way you present news to your audience.
